This series of photographs shows the chilling remains of what was once a very lively psychiatric institution that was overcome by time and nature. Each image is a gateway to the past-the stillness of spaces that once showed life, care, and human emotion. The rusted tools of some forgotten morgue, decaying chapel walls, and the crumbling infrastructure of a powerhouse-all speak to the stratified depth of history buried within the grounds of the institution.
These photos allow viewers to consider what stories may remain: patients who have navigated these hallways, the caretakers who dedicated their lives to them, the dreams and disputes that occurred behind the closed doorways of individual rooms. Indeed, overgrowth in the adjacent fields and busted-out windows function as metaphor and reminder of an unstoppable Nature-forces of inevitable change in man's attempt at permanency in structure and being.
Echoes of the Forgotten is more than a photographic journey; it's about memory, resilience of people, and the interaction between care and abandonment. These spaces, if framed reverently and with curiosity, may just evoke reflection upon the fragility of human undertaking and the quiet beauty that happens in the face of decay. Each of the images alludes to the institution's identity without telling its specific location, allowing the viewer to imagine their own connections with places left behind and the stories that might still echo within them.
